Strong chemical or plastic smell during first few cooks
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Factory oils and coatings not fully burned off, High temperature used before burn‑in, Residual packaging material left inside
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Operate the grill outdoors in a well‑ventilated area only.
- Remove all packaging: Ensure all plastic, cardboard, and manuals are removed from inside the grill.
- Perform burn‑in: With grates and drip pan installed, run the grill empty at 350–400°F for 45–60 minutes to burn off manufacturing oils.
- Clean grates: After cool‑down, wash cooking grates with warm soapy water, rinse, dry, and lightly oil.
- Monitor smell: Mild odor during initial burn‑in is normal. If strong chemical smell persists after several burns, contact Nexgrill support.
