How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the grill and ensure the firepot and cook chamber are cool.

Remove the cooking grates and heat baffle to access the firepot. Look for the igniter tip protruding into the firepot.
Inspect the igniter for cracks, missing tip, or heavy ash buildup. Clean ash from the firepot.
Access the controller compartment and locate the igniter wires. Ensure the connector is fully seated on the control board and that no wires are burned or broken.
If your model has an inline fuse for the igniter circuit, check and replace it if blown.
If the igniter does not glow red during startup after reconnecting, replace the igniter (hot rod) assembly with an OEM Oklahoma Joe’s part.
Reassemble the firepot area, making sure the igniter is centered and not touching the metal of the pot.

Warning: Do not touch the igniter when powered; it becomes extremely hot and can cause burns.
