Possible Causes
Grease fire in cook chamber, RTD probe reading too low due to poor contact, Auger feeding too many pellets from stuck relay, Exhaust blocked by foil or cap closed
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If flames are present, turn the controller OFF, unplug the grill, and keep the lid closed to smother the fire. Do not use water.
- After cooling, remove grates and drip tray. Clean all grease buildup from the drip tray, grease channels, and bottom of the cook chamber.
- Verify the chimney cap is adjusted correctly and exhaust vents are not blocked.
- Inspect the RTD temperature probe for secure mounting and cleanliness. Wipe off heavy soot.
- Restart the grill and watch the temperature. If it rapidly overshoots the setpoint or continues to climb with the lid open, the control board or auger relay may be faulty and should be replaced.
Warning: Repeated over‑temperature events can warp internal components and damage the finish; address the root cause before further use.
