Possible Causes
Burned out igniter element, Loose igniter wiring, Failed igniter circuit on control board, Excessive ash covering igniter tip
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the grill and ensure it is cool.
- Remove grates and heat baffle to expose the firepot. Vacuum out ash so the igniter tip is visible.
- Start an ignition cycle with the firepot visible (keep hands clear). If the igniter does not glow red within a few minutes, shut off and unplug.
- Access the igniter wiring behind the firepot and at the control board. Confirm all connectors are tight.
- If wiring is intact and the igniter does not heat, replace the igniter rod assembly. If a new igniter also fails to heat, the control board’s igniter circuit is likely bad and the control board should be replaced.
Warning: Do not repeatedly attempt ignition with a failed igniter; unburned pellets can accumulate and cause a flare‑up when manually lit.
