Possible Causes
RTD probe coated in heavy soot, RTD probe loose or out of position, Control board PID calibration drift, Excessive pellet feed from sticking auger relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Allow the grill to cool before touching internal components.
- Locate the RTD temperature probe inside the cook chamber and clean it gently with a non‑abrasive pad to remove soot and grease.
- Ensure the probe is firmly mounted and not touching metal surfaces that can skew readings.
- Check that the chimney cap and exhaust are properly adjusted to allow adequate airflow.
- If overshoot continues, consider replacing the RTD probe. Persistent control issues after sensor replacement may require a new control board.
Warning: Do not block exhaust vents to try to control temperature; this can cause dangerous pressure and heat buildup.
