Possible Causes
Excessive pellet feed, Miscalibrated controller, Temperature probe positioned too close to fire pot, Sticking auger relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Monitor the grill closely when troubleshooting temperature issues to avoid grease fires.
- Clean grease and ash: Remove built-up grease from the drip tray and interior to reduce flare-ups that can spike temperature.
- Check probe placement: Ensure the temperature probe is mounted correctly on the side wall and not directly above the fire pot or touching metal grates.
- Observe auger cycles: At a moderate setpoint, the auger should run in short bursts. If it runs continuously, the control board or relay may be sticking.
- Controller reset: Perform a factory reset or recalibration if your Outdoorchef model supports it.
If overshoot persists, the main control board may require replacement to restore proper temperature regulation.
