Possible Causes
Excessive grease buildup on drip tray, Cooking at very high temperatures with fatty foods, Blocked grease drain channel, Misaligned drip tray
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Immediate safety: If a grease fire occurs, do not open the lid fully. Turn the grill OFF and unplug it. Keep the lid closed to starve the fire of oxygen. Use a Class B fire extinguisher if flames escape. Never use water.
- After cooling: Once completely cool, remove grates and drip tray.
- Clean thoroughly: Scrape all grease and carbon from the drip tray, heat diffuser, and interior surfaces. Clean the grease channel and bucket.
- Check alignment: Ensure the drip tray is properly seated and sloped toward the grease drain.
- Adjust cooking practices: Avoid running at maximum temperature for long periods with heavy grease loads without periodic cleaning.
Regular cleaning is essential to prevent repeat grease fires.
