Possible Causes
Failed auger motor, Auger jammed with pellets or foreign object, Loose auger set screw, Damaged auger wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the grill before working near the auger or motor.
- Step 1 – Check for auger rotation: During startup (before unplugging), look into the hopper to see if pellets are moving. If not, proceed.
- Step 2 – Inspect auger motor and coupler: Access the auger motor. Verify the motor is firmly attached and the coupler/set screw connecting motor to auger shaft is tight.
- Step 3 – Clear auger jam: Remove pellets from hopper. Detach the auger motor and pull the auger shaft out. Remove compacted pellets, sawdust, or foreign objects. Clean the tube and lightly sand the auger shaft.
- Step 4 – Test motor: If the auger spins freely by hand but not under power, test the auger motor with a suitable power source or replace it if nonfunctional.
