Possible Causes

Failed auger motor, Failed combustion fan motor, Open motor wiring harness, Faulty motor driver on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the grill before accessing motors or removing panels.

  • Step 1 – Listen for motor operation: Turn the grill on (before unplugging for disassembly) and listen for the combustion fan and auger motor. If either is silent, note which one is not running.
  • Step 2 – Inspect wiring: With power disconnected, remove the side or bottom panel to access the auger motor and combustion fan. Check for loose connectors, burnt plugs, or damaged insulation. Reseat all motor connectors at the controller.
  • Step 3 – Test motors directly (advanced): If comfortable and qualified, briefly power the auger motor and fan with a suitable test cord (correct voltage and safety precautions) to confirm they spin. If they do not, replace the failed motor.
  • Step 4 – Check for mechanical binding: For the auger, remove the motor and verify the auger shaft can be turned by hand. If jammed, clear pellet jams and clean the auger tube.
  • Step 5 – Replace faulty parts: Replace the auger motor or combustion fan motor if they fail to run. If both motors test good but Er4 remains, replace the main control board.
