Possible Causes
Pellet hopper empty or bridging, Wet or poor-quality pellets, Blocked firepot or ash buildup, Failed combustion fan or auger feed during cook
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the grill to OFF and unplug before cleaning the firepot or working near moving parts.
- Step 1 – Check pellet supply: Open the hopper and verify it is at least half full with dry, hardwood pellets. Break up any pellet bridges or clumps with your hand.
- Step 2 – Clean firepot and burn area: Remove grates, drip tray, and heat baffle. Vacuum out all ash from the firepot and surrounding area using a cold-ash–rated shop vac. Ensure the firepot holes are not blocked.
- Step 3 – Verify combustion fan operation: With the grill reassembled and plugged in, start on Smoke. Confirm you can feel strong airflow inside the firepot area. If not, inspect and replace the combustion fan motor as needed.
- Step 4 – Check auger feed: During startup, look into the firepot (before ignition) to see if pellets are dropping. If not, troubleshoot the auger motor and clear any jams.
- Step 5 – Restart correctly: After cleaning and confirming pellet flow, perform a proper startup: set to Smoke, wait for ignition and stable flame, then set desired temperature.
