Possible Causes

Empty pellet hopper, Pellet bridging above auger intake, Auger jammed with pellets or debris, Failed auger motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the grill OFF and unplug before reaching into the hopper or working near the auger.

  • Step 1 – Fill hopper: Ensure the hopper is at least half full with dry pellets.
  • Step 2 – Break pellet bridges: Use your hand or a wooden stick to stir pellets and break up any arching above the auger intake.
  • Step 3 – Check for auger movement: Plug the grill back in and start on Smoke. Look into the hopper to see if pellets are moving down into the auger. If not, unplug and proceed.
  • Step 4 – Clear auger jam: Remove pellets from the hopper. Access the auger motor from the side or bottom. Remove the motor and attempt to pull the auger out. Clear compacted pellets, sawdust, or foreign objects from the auger tube. Lightly sand and wipe the auger shaft, then reinstall.
  • Step 5 – Test auger motor: If the auger is free but still does not turn when powered, replace the auger motor.
