Possible Causes
Shorted triac or relay on control board, Incorrect RTD calibration, Control board firmware fault, Miswired fan or auger outputs
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If the grill is overheating, turn it off, unplug it, and keep the lid closed to smother the fire. Do not open the lid during a runaway event.
- Clean interior: Once cool, remove grates and drip tray. Scrape away grease and debris that could contribute to flare-ups.
- Verify RTD placement: Ensure the RTD probe is firmly mounted in its original location and not touching the heat diffuser or firepot directly.
- Inspect wiring: Check that the auger and fan connectors are plugged into the correct terminals on the Rösle control board. Miswiring can cause improper fuel/air control.
- Factory reset (if available): Consult your Rösle manual for any control board reset procedure and perform it to clear possible firmware glitches.
- Monitor startup: On the next startup, watch the pellet feed and temperature rise. If the auger continues to feed pellets even when the set temperature is exceeded, the control board output may be stuck on.
- Replace control board: If ER10 recurs and the grill continues to overheat despite correct wiring and a good RTD, replace the main control board with a Rösle-compatible unit.
