Possible Causes

Pellets ran out mid-cook, Sudden wind gusts blowing out flame, Excessive ash buildup restricting airflow, Intermittent auger motor or fan operation

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Allow the grill to complete its cool-down cycle. Do not unplug until the fan stops unless there is an emergency.

  • Check pellet level: Open the hopper and verify there are sufficient pellets. Refill if low or empty.
  • Clean firepot and burn area: Once cool, remove grates and drip tray. Vacuum the firepot and surrounding area to remove ash that may restrict airflow.
  • Inspect fan and auger: Confirm that the combustion fan and auger motor run smoothly during startup. Listen for intermittent stopping or unusual noises.
  • Shield from wind: If cooking in a very windy location, reposition the grill or use a windbreak to prevent flame blowout.
  • Restart properly: After a flame-out, follow the Rösle manual's restart procedure, which typically includes clearing excess pellets from the firepot before relighting.
  • Replace failing components: If flame-outs continue despite clean conditions and good pellets, consider replacing the auger motor or combustion fan.
