Possible Causes

Weak combustion fan, Restricted exhaust or intake vents, Partially blocked firepot, Low-quality pellets with low BTU output

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Allow the grill to cool and unplug before cleaning or disassembly.

  • Clean firepot and diffuser: Remove grates, drip tray, and heat diffuser. Thoroughly clean ash and carbon from the firepot and the underside of the diffuser plate.
  • Check exhaust and intake: Inspect the chimney cap and exhaust path for soot or grease buildup. Ensure the air intake openings near the fan are not blocked by debris or spider webs.
  • Verify fan performance: Start the grill and feel for strong airflow from the exhaust. If airflow is weak, inspect and possibly replace the combustion fan.
  • Use premium pellets: Switch to high-quality, dry hardwood pellets recommended by Rösle. Avoid blended or softwood pellets that may produce less heat.
  • Test at high setpoint: Set the grill to its maximum temperature and monitor with an independent thermometer. If it still cannot reach target, further diagnosis of the fan and control board may be needed.
