Possible Causes
RTD probe shorted to chassis, Melted RTD cable insulation, Moisture inside RTD connector, Faulty temperature sensing circuit on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the grill before working on the probe or control panel.
- Visual inspection: Follow the RTD cable from the cook chamber into the control area. Look for melted insulation, pinch points, or spots where the cable may contact sharp metal edges.
- Check for shorts: Ensure the metal body of the RTD probe is properly isolated and not touching any live terminals. The probe body may be grounded, but the leads should not be shorted to the grill chassis.
- Dry and clean connectors: Disconnect the RTD from the control board. Inspect the connector for moisture, grease, or corrosion. Clean gently with electrical contact cleaner and allow to dry fully.
- Replace damaged RTD: If the cable is melted or the probe tip is discolored from overheating, replace the RTD temperature probe with a Rösle-compatible part.
- Test with new probe: Reconnect the new probe, plug in the grill, and verify that the displayed temperature is stable and close to ambient when cold.
If the error persists with a new probe, the control board's sensor circuit may be defective and require replacement.
