Possible Causes
Tripped high-limit temperature switch, Failed high-limit thermostat, Loose wiring to high-limit switch, Excessive grease fire causing overheat event
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure there is no active fire in the cook chamber. Unplug the grill and allow it to cool completely.
- Locate the high-limit switch: On many Rösle pellet grills, a small disc-style high-limit thermostat is mounted on or near the firebox or exhaust area with two wires attached.
- Inspect for damage: Check the switch body and terminals for signs of melting, discoloration, or burned wires.
- Reset if manual-reset type: Some high-limit switches have a small reset button in the center. Once the grill is fully cool, press the button firmly until you feel a click.
- Check wiring: Ensure both wires are firmly attached to the switch and the harness connector at the control board is secure.
- Clean interior: Remove grates, drip tray, and heat diffuser. Scrape and clean grease from the drip tray and interior surfaces to prevent future overheat from grease fires.
- Replace switch if faulty: If the switch will not reset or shows physical damage, replace it with a Rösle-compatible high-limit thermostat of the same temperature rating.
- Test operation: Reassemble, plug in, and start the grill. Confirm that ERR6 is cleared and the grill heats normally.
