Possible Causes
Empty pellet hopper, Hopper bridge causing pellets not to drop into auger, Auger motor intermittent failure, Faulty pellet level sensor (if equipped)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the grill and let it cool before working near the auger or firepot.
- Check pellet level: Open the hopper and ensure it is at least half full with dry, food-grade hardwood pellets. Top up if low.
- Break pellet bridges: Use a clean, dry wooden stick to gently stir pellets in the hopper, especially near the auger intake, to break up any bridging.
- Inspect pellet quality: Remove a handful of pellets and check for swelling, crumbling, or excessive dust. Discard any damp or degraded pellets and vacuum out the hopper before refilling with fresh pellets.
- Observe auger operation: With the grill reassembled, plug it in and start it. Look through the hopper to confirm pellets are being drawn into the auger. If not, the auger motor may be failing intermittently.
- Check pellet level sensor (if present): Some Rösle models include a pellet level switch or optical sensor. Ensure it is clean and its wiring is intact.
- Replace auger motor if intermittent: If the auger sometimes runs and sometimes stops without error, replace the auger motor with a compatible Rösle unit.
