Possible Causes
Defective meat probe, Meat probe not fully inserted into jack, Damaged probe cable or plug
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the grill before inspecting jacks or wiring.
Steps to troubleshoot PRB error:
- Check probe connection: Ensure the meat probe plug is fully inserted into the probe jack on the controller. A partial insertion can cause no reading.
- Inspect probe cable: Look for cuts, melted insulation, or kinks in the probe cable. Replace the probe if damaged.
- Test with another probe: If available, plug in a known-good Recteq-compatible meat probe. If the new probe works, the original probe is faulty.
- Inspect jack: Examine the probe jack on the controller for debris, grease, or corrosion. Clean gently with a cotton swab and electrical contact cleaner.
- Controller input check: If no probe works in that jack, the controller's probe input may be defective and the controller may need replacement.
Note: A PRB error typically does not prevent the grill from operating, but meat temperatures will be unreliable until the issue is resolved.
