How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the grill before handling wiring or the controller.
Steps to troubleshoot SEN error:
- Inspect RTD probe and cable: Locate the RTD inside the cook chamber and follow its cable to the controller. Look for cuts, burns, or crushed sections.
- Check connector: Remove the controller mounting screws and gently pull it out. Locate the RTD connector on the back of the controller and ensure it is fully seated and free of corrosion.
- Clean contacts: If corrosion is present, lightly clean the connector pins with electrical contact cleaner and a soft brush, then reconnect firmly.
- Test with meter: Measure resistance across the RTD leads. An open or shorted reading indicates a failed sensor.
- Replace RTD: If damaged or electrically faulty, install a new Recteq-compatible RTD probe and route the cable properly.
- Re-test: Plug in the grill and verify that the display shows a reasonable ambient temperature and that the SEN error is cleared.
Note: If a new RTD does not resolve the error, the controller's sensor input may be defective and the controller should be replaced.
