Possible Causes

Blocked grease drain channel, Drip pan not installed correctly or warped, Grease bucket missing or overfilled

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Allow the grill to cool completely before cleaning grease. Grease can remain hot for a long time.

Steps to fix grease leaks:

  • Check grease bucket: Ensure the bucket is installed, not overfilled, and properly aligned with the drain spout.
  • Clean grease channel: Remove grates and drip pan. Locate the grease channel leading to the drain and scrape out hardened grease. Use a flexible brush or pipe cleaner to clear the drain tube.
  • Inspect drip pan: Verify that the drip pan is seated correctly with the proper slope toward the drain. If warped, replace the drip pan.
  • Remove excess grease: Wipe or scrape grease from the barrel bottom and sides where it may be overflowing the designed path.
  • Test with small cook: After cleaning, perform a short cook with moderate-fat food and monitor grease flow to the bucket.

Tip: Line the drip pan with heavy-duty foil (if recommended by Recteq) and replace the foil regularly to keep the grease path clear.
