Possible Causes

Failed auger motor, Disconnected auger motor harness, Stripped auger motor coupling or set screw

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the grill before working near the auger or motor. Do not place hands near the auger while powered.

Steps to restore auger operation:

  • Confirm symptom: Start a cook cycle and listen for auger motor operation. If you hear the motor but see no pellet movement, the coupling may be stripped.
  • Access auger motor: Remove the side or rear panel to expose the auger motor and gearbox. Inspect the motor mounting and coupling to the auger shaft.
  • Check wiring: Ensure the auger motor connector is firmly plugged into the controller harness and that wires are intact.
  • Inspect coupling: Verify that the set screw or coupling between the motor and auger shaft is tight. If stripped, replace the coupling or tighten the set screw with threadlocker.
  • Test motor: With the auger disconnected, briefly power the grill and start a feed test to see if the motor shaft turns. If it does not, replace the auger motor with a Recteq-compatible unit.
  • Reassemble and test: Reconnect the auger, secure all fasteners, and test pellet feed during startup.

Note: If a new motor does not run, the controller's auger output may be faulty and the controller will need replacement.
