Possible Causes
Loose hinge bolts, Bent lid or body from impact, Worn hinge bushings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Work on the lid only when the grill is cool to avoid burns.
Steps to correct lid alignment:
- Inspect hinges: Check hinge bolts on both sides for looseness. Tighten evenly while holding the lid in proper alignment.
- Check for bending: Sight along the lid and body edges to identify any bends. Minor bends can sometimes be gently corrected by hand.
- Adjust latch (if equipped): Adjust the latch or catch to pull the lid snugly against the body without excessive force.
- Replace hinge parts: If hinge bushings or brackets are worn or deformed, replace them with Recteq-compatible hinge components.
- Test seal: Close the lid and check for uniform contact around the perimeter. Install or replace a lid gasket if needed to improve sealing.
Note: Proper lid alignment improves temperature stability and fuel efficiency.
