Display shows H1 and actual temperature is much higher than the setpoint; grill may shut down for safety.

Safety first: Turn the grill off, unplug it, and keep the lid closed until temperature drops. Do not open the lid if there is active flame or heavy smoke.

Steps to correct:

• Inspect fire pot: After cooling, remove grates and baffle. Check for excessive pellets in the fire pot and clear them out.
• Check door and seals: Inspect the lid gasket and body seams for gaps that could allow excess air into the firebox. Replace worn gaskets if available for your Royal Gourmet model.
• Verify RTD cleanliness: Clean the temperature probe so it can accurately sense chamber temperature.
• Observe auger operation: During a test run, watch whether the auger runs continuously even when temperature is above setpoint. Continuous feed indicates a stuck relay or faulty control logic.
• Replace control board if needed: If the auger does not cycle properly and H1 recurs, replace the main control board.
