Possible Causes
Damaged RTD temperature sensor lead, Disconnected RTD plug at control board, Broken RTD probe from heat exposure, Corroded RTD connector at front control panel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Tepro pellet grill from mains power and allow it to cool completely before opening any panels.
- 1. Inspect the RTD temperature probe: Locate the RTD probe inside the cook chamber (usually a small metal rod on the side wall). Check that the probe is not broken, bent sharply, or covered in heavy grease. Clean gently with a non‑abrasive pad.
- 2. Check the RTD wiring harness: Follow the probe wires through the rear of the cook chamber to the underside or rear service panel. Remove the panel and look for any cuts, melted insulation, or pinched wires. Repair minor insulation damage with high‑temp electrical tape; replace if conductors are exposed.
- 3. Verify the RTD connector at the control board: On the main control board, locate the RTD or TEMP PROBE connector. Ensure the plug is fully seated and not corroded. Unplug and re‑plug it several times to wipe the contacts. If pins are bent or green with corrosion, clean gently with contact cleaner or replace the harness.
- 4. Test continuity (advanced): With the grill unplugged, use a multimeter set to resistance (Ω). Disconnect the RTD from the board and measure across the two RTD leads. A typical RTD will show a finite resistance (often 100–2000 Ω depending on type). If the meter reads OL/open, the probe is defective and must be replaced.
- 5. Replace the RTD sensor if needed: Remove the mounting screw(s) holding the probe to the cook chamber wall, pull the old probe and harness out, route the new harness along the same path, and reconnect to the control board. Secure wiring away from hot surfaces and moving parts.
- 6. Power up and test: Reassemble panels, plug the grill back in, and power on. The Er1 code should clear automatically if the new probe is detected.
