Possible Causes
Pellet hopper empty, Wet or poor‑quality pellets, Excessive wind blowing into fire pot, Blocked combustion fan intake or exhaust, Faulty combustion fan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the grill off, unplug it, and allow it to cool. Confirm there are no active embers before working inside.
- 1. Check pellet supply: Open the hopper and verify it is at least half full with dry, free‑flowing pellets. Break up any bridging where pellets hang up on the sides.
- 2. Inspect pellet quality: Discard pellets that are soft, crumbly, or swollen. Use only dry, food‑grade hardwood pellets. Vacuum fines and sawdust from the bottom of the hopper.
- 3. Clean fire pot and air passages: Remove grates and drip tray. Vacuum ash from the fire pot and surrounding area. Ensure the air holes in the fire pot are clear.
- 4. Check combustion fan: Access the fan housing (usually under or behind the fire pot). Spin the fan blade by hand; it should move freely without scraping. Clean dust and grease from the intake and exhaust vents.
- 5. Test fan operation: With the grill reassembled enough for safe operation, plug it in and start a cook cycle. Listen for the fan. If it does not run or is very weak, the fan motor may be failing and should be replaced.
- 6. Shield from wind: If the grill is in a very windy location, move it to a more sheltered area or use a windbreak. Strong gusts can blow the flame out and trigger Er6.
- 7. Restart procedure: After cleaning and checks, start the grill following the manufacturer’s startup sequence. Monitor the flame through the fire pot area if possible to ensure it remains stable.
