Possible Causes
Combustion fan motor seized, Fan blades obstructed by grease or debris, Disconnected fan wiring, Failed fan driver on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the grill and ensure all components are cool.
- 1. Access the fan: Remove the lower or rear service panel to expose the combustion fan assembly.
- 2. Check for obstructions: Inspect the fan blades for grease buildup, foil, or debris. Clean thoroughly with a brush and degreaser, taking care not to bend the blades.
- 3. Spin test: Rotate the fan by hand. It should spin freely without grinding. If it is stiff or seized, the motor must be replaced.
- 4. Verify wiring: Ensure the fan connector is fully seated on the control board and that wires are not cut or burned.
- 5. Power test: With the grill partially reassembled, plug it in and start a cook cycle. Listen and feel for fan operation. If the fan does not run but receives proper voltage (check with a multimeter), replace the fan motor. If no voltage is present, suspect the control board.
- 6. Replace fan motor: Remove mounting screws, disconnect wiring, and install the new fan in the same orientation. Secure wiring away from moving parts and hot surfaces.
