Possible Causes
RTD probe lead broken internally, Loose RTD connector, Damaged RTD from impact, Control board sensor circuit fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before handling wiring.
- 1. Wiggle test: With the grill powered on and showing L1, gently move the RTD cable near the probe and at the control board. If the reading jumps or briefly returns to normal, there is an intermittent break in the cable or connector.
- 2. Inspect for physical damage: Check the probe for dents, kinks, or signs of being struck by grates or tools. Replace if damaged.
- 3. Reseat connector: Unplug the RTD from the control board, inspect, and plug back in firmly. Ensure it is fully latched.
- 4. Resistance test: With the grill unplugged, measure resistance across the RTD leads. An open circuit (OL) indicates a broken sensor. Replace the RTD assembly.
- 5. Replace control board if needed: If a new RTD still reads under‑range, the board’s sensor input is likely defective and the board should be replaced.
