Possible Causes
Missing or damaged auger tube seal, Excessive draft or wind, Fire pot overfilled with pellets, Grill shut down incorrectly leaving embers
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If you see smoke from the hopper, immediately turn the grill off, unplug it, and keep the hopper lid closed. Have a fire extinguisher ready. Do not open the hopper until smoke subsides.
- 1. Allow to cool: Once all signs of combustion have stopped and the grill is cool, empty the hopper completely.
- 2. Inspect auger tube seal: Check the junction where the auger tube meets the fire pot. Replace any missing or damaged high‑temp seal or gasket.
- 3. Clean fire pot: Remove excess pellets and ash from the fire pot to prevent overfilling.
- 4. Follow proper shutdown: Always use the grill’s shutdown cycle so the fan can burn off remaining pellets and cool the fire pot before power is removed.
- 5. Avoid extreme wind: Position the grill so strong winds do not blow directly into the exhaust or air intake.
