Possible Causes
Defective hopper lid switch, Misadjusted hopper lid actuator, Broken hopper switch bracket, Disconnected hopper switch wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the grill before working around the hopper and switch wiring.
- Confirm hopper lid closure: Make sure the hopper lid is fully closed and not obstructed by pellet bags or tools.
- Locate hopper switch: Find the small switch or sensor mounted near the hopper lid hinge or rim.
- Check actuator contact: Ensure the lid or attached tab fully depresses the switch when closed. Bend or adjust the actuator tab if necessary.
- Inspect wiring and mounting: Verify the switch is securely mounted and that its wires are intact and firmly connected to the main harness.
- Replace faulty switch: If the switch does not change state when actuated (tested with a multimeter), install a new Timberwolf Hopper Lid Switch.
