Unstable Temperature Control
Grill temperature fluctuates widely (±40–60°F) during a cook.

Possible Causes
Wind or drafts affecting exhaust, RTD probe placement near cold spots, Control board PID settings unsuitable, Loose RTD connection
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Allow the grill to cool before adjusting internal sensors or wiring.
- Shield from wind: Move the grill to a more sheltered location or use a windbreak to reduce drafts across the exhaust and lid.
- Inspect RTD wiring: Ensure the RTD cable is not loose at the control board and that the probe is not touching food or racks.
- Use a thermal mass: Place a heat-retaining object (like a pizza stone) inside to help stabilize temperature swings.
- Update or reset controller (if supported): Some Timberwolf models allow firmware updates or PID resets. Follow the manual to restore default control parameters.
