Safety first: Unplug the grill before working on the auger or motor. Pellets and dust are combustible; avoid sparks.

• 1. Listen for motor:
  • During startup, listen near the hopper for the auger motor cycling on and off.
• 2. Check for jam:
  • Empty the hopper completely.
  • Remove the auger motor from the end of the auger shaft.
  • Try to rotate the auger by hand with pliers; if it will not move, it is jammed.
• 3. Clear auger jam:
  • Remove the screws securing the auger housing cover.
  • Pull the auger shaft out of the tube, twisting as needed.
  • Clear compacted pellets, sawdust, or foreign objects from the tube.
  • Lightly sand rust from the auger and tube if present.
• 4. Test motor:
  • With the motor disconnected from the auger, apply power via the controller and confirm it spins.
  • If it hums but does not turn, replace the auger motor.
• 5. Reassemble:
  • Reinstall the auger shaft and motor, ensuring the set screw or shear pin is secure.
