Possible Causes

Pellet hopper empty or bridging, Wet or poor-quality pellets, Blocked firepot, Weak induction fan airflow

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the grill OFF and unplug it. Allow it to cool before cleaning the firepot.

  • 1. Check pellet supply:
    • Open the hopper and verify it is at least half full.
    • Stir pellets to break up any bridging or tunneling.
    • Discard pellets that are swollen, crumbly, or damp and refill with fresh, dry Traeger hardwood pellets.
  • 2. Clean firepot and burn area:
    • Remove grates, drip tray, and heat baffle.
    • Vacuum ash from the firepot and surrounding area.
    • Ensure the firepot holes are not clogged.
  • 3. Verify fan operation:
    • With components removed, plug in the grill and start it.
    • Confirm the induction fan spins and you feel airflow into the firepot.
    • If the fan does not run, test and replace the induction fan.
  • 4. Restart correctly:
    • Perform a proper startup: set to SMOKE or IGNITE, lid open until you see consistent smoke and hear the fire, then close the lid.
  • 5. If LEr persists:
    • Check auger operation for intermittent feeding.
    • Inspect RTD for incorrect low readings and replace if needed.
