How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the grill before handling the sensor wiring or controller.

  • 1. Verify correct part:
    • Confirm that the installed RTD is an OEM Traeger sensor compatible with your model.
  • 2. Inspect and re-seat connector:
    • Locate the RTD plug at the back of the controller.
    • Unplug and reinsert it several times to ensure a solid connection.
  • 3. Check cable and probe:
    • Inspect the probe inside the cook chamber for physical damage.
    • Check the cable for cuts, burns, or pinch points.
  • 4. Replace RTD if suspect:
    • Remove the mounting screw holding the RTD to the barrel.
    • Install a new RTD temperature probe and route the cable properly.
