Possible Causes

Weak Wi-Fi signal at grill, Incorrect Wi-Fi password, Outdated controller firmware, Faulty WiFIRE module or antenna

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Network troubleshooting does not involve high voltage, but keep grill unplugged if you remove the controller.

  • 1. Check Wi-Fi network:
    • Ensure the 2.4 GHz band is enabled on your router (many Traeger WiFIRE controllers do not support 5 GHz only networks).
    • Move the router or add a Wi-Fi extender closer to the grill.
  • 2. Re-run WiFIRE setup:
    • Follow the Traeger app instructions to put the grill into pairing mode.
    • Enter the correct Wi-Fi password and wait for confirmation.
  • 3. Update firmware:
    • If the grill connects intermittently, check for controller firmware updates via the app.
  • 4. Inspect WiFIRE antenna and module:
    • Remove the controller and verify the antenna cable is firmly attached.
    • Look for damage to the antenna or cable; replace if frayed or cut.
  • 5. Replace WiFIRE-enabled controller if needed:
    • If the module is integrated and all other steps fail, replace the controller with a compatible WiFIRE model.
