Possible Causes
Misaligned lid switch or magnet, Failed reed switch or microswitch, Broken or disconnected lid sensor wiring, Control board input fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF and unplug the grill before adjusting switches or wiring.
Steps to troubleshoot ERR DOOR:
- 1. Inspect lid alignment: Close the lid and verify it fully contacts the front frame. If the lid is warped or hinges are loose, the door switch may not engage.
- 2. Locate the lid sensor: On many Twin Eagles pellet grills, a magnetic reed switch or mechanical microswitch is mounted near the lid edge or hinge area.
- 3. Check the actuator: Ensure the magnet or actuator tab attached to the lid lines up with the switch when closed. Adjust mounting screws as needed.
- 4. Test the switch: With the grill unplugged, disconnect the switch and test continuity with a multimeter while opening and closing the lid. Replace the switch if it does not change state.
- 5. Inspect wiring: Follow the switch wires to the control board, checking for cuts, pinches, or loose connectors.
If the error remains after switch replacement and alignment, the control board may not be reading the lid input correctly and should be checked by a technician.
