Possible Causes

Failed combustion fan motor, Obstruction in fan blades, Loose or damaged fan wiring, Faulty fan driver circuit on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF and unplug the grill. Allow it to cool. Do not attempt to spin the fan while power is applied.

Steps to address ERR FAN:

  • 1. Listen for fan operation: During startup (before the error appears), you should hear a steady fan sound. If it is silent or intermittent, proceed with inspection.
  • 2. Access the combustion fan: Remove the rear or side service panel (depending on your Twin Eagles pellet model). Locate the combustion fan assembly near the firebox.
  • 3. Inspect for obstructions: Check for foil, grease-soaked debris, or ash buildup contacting the fan blades. Remove any obstructions and vacuum loose ash.
  • 4. Check wiring: Confirm the fan’s plug is fully seated in the control board connector and that wires are not pinched or burned.
  • 5. Test the fan: With the grill unplugged, gently spin the fan blades by hand. They should rotate freely. If they are stiff or seized, the motor is likely failed and should be replaced.
  • 6. Replace the combustion fan if needed: Disconnect wiring, remove mounting screws, and install a new Twin Eagles-compatible combustion fan assembly. Ensure the gasket or seal is properly seated to prevent smoke leaks.

If ERR FAN continues after fan replacement and wiring checks, the control board may not be powering the fan correctly and should be checked by a technician.
