Possible Causes

Dirty or failed flame sensor, Poor combustion air flow, Excessive ash in fire pot, Low-quality or damp pellets

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF and unplug the grill. Allow it to cool fully before servicing. Never work inside the firebox while hot.

Steps to address ERR FLAME:

  • 1. Clean the fire pot: Remove grates and diffuser. Vacuum out ash and unburned pellets from the fire pot and surrounding area. A clogged pot can prevent a stable flame.
  • 2. Inspect the flame sensor: Locate the flame sensor (often a small metal rod or optical sensor positioned to view the fire pot). Gently clean it with a soft, dry cloth or fine Scotch-Brite pad. Do not use harsh abrasives or bend the sensor.
  • 3. Check airflow: Confirm the combustion fan runs during startup. Clean intake vents and exhaust path. Blocked vents reduce oxygen and can cause weak or no flame.
  • 4. Use dry, premium pellets: Replace any pellets that feel swollen or crumble easily. Moist pellets burn poorly and may not sustain a flame.
  • 5. Test operation: Reassemble, plug in, and start the grill with the lid open. Observe the fire pot. If the flame lights but the unit still shows ERR FLAME, the sensor or control board may be faulty.
  • 6. Replace flame sensor if needed: With power disconnected, remove the mounting screw(s) for the flame sensor, disconnect its harness from the control board, and install a new Twin Eagles-compatible flame sensor in the same position and orientation.

If the error continues after cleaning and sensor replacement, contact a Twin Eagles service technician to evaluate the control board and wiring.
