Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF and unplug the grill before accessing internal wiring or sensors.
Steps to troubleshoot hopper sensor errors:
- 1. Verify pellet level: Ensure the hopper is at least half full with dry, clean hardwood pellets. Avoid using pellets with excessive dust.
- 2. Clean the hopper: Scoop pellets into a container, vacuum out sawdust and debris from the bottom and around any visible sensor components.
- 3. Locate the pellet level sensor: On Twin Eagles models equipped with a level sensor, it is typically mounted on the side or bottom of the hopper, sometimes as an optical or mechanical switch.
- 4. Inspect and clean the sensor: Wipe the sensor surface with a dry cloth. Ensure no foreign objects are blocking it.
- 5. Check wiring: Follow the sensor wires to the control board and confirm the connector is secure and undamaged.
- 6. Replace the sensor if needed: With power disconnected, remove mounting screws, disconnect the harness, and install a new Twin Eagles-compatible hopper level sensor.
If the error persists with a new sensor and clean hopper, the control board may be misreading the sensor and should be checked by a service technician.
