Display shows ERR TEMP or temperature reading is dashes/blank; grill will not regulate temperature.

Possible Causes
Failed RTD/thermocouple grill temperature sensor, Broken or shorted sensor wiring, Loose sensor connector at control board, Sensor lead pinched or burned inside cook chamber
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF and unplug the grill. Allow it to cool before touching any internal wiring or probes.
Steps to troubleshoot ERR TEMP:
- 1. Locate the grill temperature sensor: On Twin Eagles pellet grills, the RTD or thermocouple probe is typically mounted on the interior side wall of the cook chamber, with wires passing through the back wall to the control board.
- 2. Inspect the probe: Check for physical damage, heavy grease buildup, or signs of overheating. Clean the probe gently with a soft cloth and mild degreaser if heavily coated.
- 3. Check wiring and connections: Access the rear of the probe and follow the cable to the control board. Ensure the connector is fully seated and that the cable is not cut, pinched, or melted.
- 4. Power cycle the grill: Plug the grill back in and power it on. If ERR TEMP clears temporarily but returns when the grill heats, the sensor may be failing under temperature.
- 5. Replace the temperature sensor: With power disconnected, remove the mounting screw(s) holding the probe to the cook chamber wall, gently pull the sensor out, disconnect it from the harness, and install a new Twin Eagles-compatible RTD/thermocouple. Route the wire away from direct flame and sharp edges.
If the error persists with a new sensor, the control board’s temperature input circuit may be defective and should be evaluated by a professional.
