Slow Temperature Recovery / Heat Loss
Grill temperature swings widely when the lid is opened and closed, and recovery is very slow.

Possible Causes
Thin or damaged lid gasket, Excessive lid opening, Windy or cold ambient conditions, RTD probe placement affected by drafts
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Use heat-resistant gloves when working around a hot grill.
- Minimize lid opening: Plan cooks to reduce how often and how long the lid is open.
- Check for leaks: Inspect the lid-to-body interface for gaps. Install or replace a high-temperature gasket kit if compatible with your Weber model.
- Shield from wind: Position the grill out of direct wind, which can cool the cookbox and affect the RTD reading.
- Verify RTD location: Ensure the temperature probe is not directly in the path of cold air entering from leaks or vents.
