Possible Causes
Broken auger shear pin or bolt, Stripped auger motor coupling, Auger shaft not fully seated in motor coupling
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the grill and allow it to cool before accessing the auger assembly.
- Empty hopper: Remove pellets from the hopper to expose the auger intake.
- Access auger motor: Remove the rear or side access panel to reach the auger motor and coupling.
- Inspect coupling: Check the connection between the motor shaft and auger shaft. Look for a missing or broken shear pin/bolt or a stripped coupling.
- Replace shear pin: Install a new Yoder-specified shear pin or bolt. Do not substitute with harder hardware that could damage the motor or auger.
- Seat auger shaft: Ensure the auger shaft is fully inserted into the coupling and secured.
- Test feed: Reassemble, refill the hopper, and run the auger to confirm pellets are feeding into the firepot.
