Controller displays ERR1 and grill will not start the ignition sequence

Safety first: Unplug the Yoder pellet grill from power and allow it to cool completely before opening any panels. Do not work inside the grill while it is hot or energized.

• Check RTD probe connection: Locate the RTD temperature probe inside the cook chamber (small metal probe on the left side wall) and trace its wire through the back of the grill to the control box. Verify the plug is fully seated in the controller harness and not loose.
• Inspect wiring: Look for cuts, melted insulation, or pinched sections along the RTD cable where it passes through the body. If the insulation is damaged or the wire is broken, the probe assembly should be replaced.
• Clean and reseat connectors: Disconnect the RTD connector at the control board (inside the controller housing), inspect for corrosion or bent pins, clean lightly with electrical contact cleaner, and reconnect firmly.
• Test continuity (advanced): With the grill unplugged, use a multimeter to measure resistance across the RTD leads. An open circuit (infinite resistance) indicates a failed probe. Replace the RTD temperature probe if open.
• If ERR1 persists: After reseating and/or replacing the RTD probe, restore power and test. If the error remains, the RTD input on the main control board may be defective and the controller assembly should be replaced by a qualified technician.
