Possible Causes

Failed relay on main control board, Damaged controller due to power surge, Internal controller short, Loose controller harness connections

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before removing the controller from the grill.

  • Inspect controller connections: Remove the controller mounting screws and gently pull the controller out. Verify all harness plugs are fully seated and locked.
  • Check for visible damage: Look for burn marks, swollen components, or corrosion on the controller PCB. Any visible damage indicates the controller should be replaced.
  • Verify supply voltage: Confirm that the grill is receiving proper line voltage at the power cord and into the controller using a multimeter (qualified persons only).
  • Reset and test: Reinstall the controller, restore power, and attempt to start the grill. If ERR7 reappears immediately and all external components (fan, auger, igniter, RTD) test good, replace the main control board.
