Possible Causes
Igniter rod slow to heat, Firepot overfilled with pellets, Weak airflow from fan, Wet pellets preventing ignition
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the grill and allow pellets in the firepot to cool before cleaning.
- Empty firepot: Remove grates and diffuser, then vacuum all pellets and ash from the firepot.
- Check igniter performance: Start an ignition cycle with the firepot exposed and verify the igniter glows red within a few minutes. Replace if it does not.
- Confirm airflow: Ensure the combustion fan is running and blowing air into the firepot. Replace the fan if airflow is weak.
- Use fresh pellets: Discard any pellets that have been exposed to moisture. Refill with fresh, dry pellets.
- Retry startup: Reassemble the grill and attempt ignition again. If IGN errors persist with a new igniter and good airflow, the controller timing or output may be faulty and require replacement.
