Possible Causes

Insufficient pellet feed, Combustion fan not running at full speed, Excessive heat loss due to wind or cold, RTD probe reading too high

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Use heat-resistant gloves when adjusting vents or inspecting the cook chamber during operation.

  • Check pellet quality and level: Ensure the hopper is at least half full with dry, high-quality pellets. Remove fines and dust from the hopper bottom.
  • Inspect firepot: With the grill cool, clean ash and clinkers from the firepot to ensure good combustion.
  • Verify fan performance: Start the grill and listen for strong, steady airflow from the combustion fan. Replace the fan if it is weak or intermittent.
  • Reduce heat loss: In very cold or windy conditions, use a Yoder thermal jacket if available and position the grill out of direct wind. Avoid frequent lid openings.
  • Check RTD probe: Inspect and clean the RTD probe. Heavy buildup can insulate it and cause incorrect readings. Replace if damaged.
