Possible Causes
Igniter rod not heating, Excessive ash in firepot, Combustion fan not providing enough air, Wet or poor-quality pellets
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the grill and allow any unburned pellets to cool before cleaning the firepot.
- Clean firepot thoroughly: Remove all ash and pellets from the firepot. Ensure the igniter opening is clear and unobstructed.
- Check igniter glow: With the firepot exposed, plug in the grill and start an ignition cycle. Within a few minutes, the igniter should glow red. If it does not, replace the igniter rod assembly.
- Verify airflow: Confirm the combustion fan starts and blows air into the firepot during ignition. Replace the fan if it does not run.
- Use dry pellets: Discard any pellets that feel soft, crumble easily, or appear swollen. Refill the hopper with fresh, dry pellets.
- Manual light (temporary): As a temporary workaround, you can place a small amount of pellets in the firepot and light them with an approved fire starter cube, then run the grill with the igniter disabled. This should only be done if you fully understand the procedure and safety implications.
