How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the grill and ensure the firepot is cool before working on the igniter.
- Clean firepot: Remove all ash and debris from the firepot and around the igniter opening.
- Inspect igniter: Remove the igniter from its mounting and check for cracks, breaks, or heavy scaling. Replace if damaged.
- Check alignment: Reinstall the igniter so that its tip is correctly positioned in the firepot opening per Yoder specifications, not recessed too far back.
- Verify wiring: Confirm the igniter wires are firmly connected to the controller harness and not pinched or burned.
- Test ignition: Reassemble and start the grill, observing for a strong red glow from the igniter. If there is still no glow, replace the igniter rod assembly.
