Display flashes IGN or ignition error; grill times out without lighting pellets.

Safety first: Unplug the grill and ensure the firepot is cool and free of active embers.

Steps to correct:

• Clean firepot: Remove grates, drip tray, and heat baffle. Vacuum all ash and debris from the firepot and surrounding area. A clogged firepot can prevent ignition.
• Check igniter glow: With components removed, plug in the grill and start it while observing the igniter tip in the firepot (do not touch). Within a couple of minutes it should begin to glow red. If it does not, the igniter or its circuit is faulty.
• Verify fan operation: Confirm the combustion fan runs during startup. Without airflow, pellets may smolder but not ignite.
• Inspect wiring: Check igniter and fan connectors at the control board for secure fit and no visible damage.
• Replace failed parts: If the igniter does not heat, replace the igniter hot rod. If the fan does not run, replace the combustion fan motor assembly or control board as needed.
• Manual test (temporary): As a test only, you can place a small amount of starter gel or a food-safe fire starter in the firepot and light it manually, then start the grill. If the grill runs normally after manual lighting, the issue is isolated to the ignition system.
• Reassemble and test: After replacing parts, reassemble the interior components and run a full startup to confirm the IGN error no longer appears.
