Possible Causes
Combustion fan weak or not running at full speed, Firepot partially blocked by ash, Low-quality or damp pellets with poor BTU output
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Allow the grill to cool before deep cleaning. Wear gloves and a dust mask when handling ash.
Steps to improve heat:
- Deep clean firepot: Remove internal components and vacuum all ash from the firepot and air holes.
- Check fan strength: Start the grill and feel for strong airflow from the combustion fan into the firepot area. Replace the fan if airflow is weak or intermittent.
- Use fresh pellets: Empty the hopper and refill with dry, high-quality hardwood pellets recommended by Z Grills.
- Inspect door and seals: Ensure the lid closes fully and that there are no large gaps allowing excessive heat loss.
