Temperature Overshoot / Excess Pellet Feed
Grill overshoots set temperature by 50°F or more and struggles to come back down.

Possible Causes
P-setting too low (high feed) for conditions, Control board algorithm issue, RTD probe coated in heavy grease causing lag
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Use heat-resistant gloves when adjusting anything on a hot grill.
Steps to mitigate:
- Clean RTD probe: Inside the cook chamber, gently clean the RTD temperature sensor with a non-abrasive pad to remove grease buildup that can slow response.
- Adjust P-setting: Increase the P number (e.g., from P2 to P4) to reduce pellet feed in smoke mode and minimize overshoot.
- Avoid frequent lid opening: Opening the lid causes the controller to feed more pellets, which can lead to overshoot when closed again.
- Verify exhaust flow: Ensure the chimney cap is properly adjusted and not trapping excessive heat.
